Couture Confections

I know, I know. It has been too too long. I AM BACK! Well, for a while. I am trying this post-holiday season healthy New Year's stuff while still enjoying the occasional cupcake.

My most recent endeavor was a pure accident. While finishing SHANGHAI GIRLS by Lisa See in one of my favorite latte spots, The Pearl Cup, I passed by this 3-week old dessert cafe to try a red velvet cupcake. First, I love the perfectly petite size. As much as I rave and love Society, I feel I need to work out for 10 hours after eating one. Couture is the place for a treat where you do not feel the guilt and still leave satisfied. Though the cost, $3.25, is a bit much. The cake itself was moist and decent, and the flavor is decent too. I was a little disappointed with the icing, because I feel that makes the cupcake as special as it is to my heart (a moment of reminiscence). The amount was fine, but the taste was a little too cream cheesy rather than buttercreamy amazingness (did I say I was a buttercream fan?).

Overall, I give this boutique a 3 out of 5 stars.

I am determined to try The Cupcakery after my next workout! Until next time, Tata!

Long time

Sorry it has been too long. I have been spending much of the summer working and eating cooler treats which lead me to the idea of another blog of BEST YOGURTS in Dallas because there are only about 15 different ones to choose from with in a 20 mile radius! I will return soon after I burn off some calories from all of the sweets to write about more cupcake delights as well as possibly some yogurt finds! Tata for now!

Creme de la Cookie (Screamin O's)

To change the pace of the dessert world, I tried a non-cupcake dessert at this Snider Plaza coffee shop/dessert bakery. With walls colored like a Tiffany box, I liked the atmoshpere as soon as I walked in. After debating for a very long 5 minutes, I decided on the Screamin O. A chocolate covered ball of absolute yumminess! I recommend this delectable delight for those brownie lovers out there. I plan on returning quite soon for a go at the smartly named cupcakes... Until then...Adieu

Tart (Stuffed cupcakes)

So I was venturing through the Shops @ Legacy when TART's delectable window appearance drew me inside. With choices from the trendy cakeballs to the classic cupcakes, I decided to try a combination of a classic and trendy treat with the stuffed cupcake. Specifically the COOKIE DOUGH stuffed cupcake. ALERT: Sit down and use utensils while eating because it is a little messie...but oh so good. Moist cake, perfectly smooth icing, and delicious addition in the center.

I admit, I have tried this boutique on Lovers Lane and was satisfied but not thrilled. After visiting the unique Plano shop which also hosts parties, my opinion of the local bakery has changed for the better. I will defintely return for one of their other specialities, most likely the cakeballs if not another one of their flavored stuffed cupcakes.

Society Bakery (Greenville Ave)

First official post: SOCIETY BAKERY

This has to be my current all-time favorite bakery in Dallas. The red velvet cupcakes are the perfect southern treat for any occasion!!! The cake is so moist (every flavor I have tried: chocolate, vanilla, red velvet, and strawberry). The icing is perfect, not overwhelming the prefection of the cake. It is VERY rich, so I recommend splitting one. Their classic white buttercreamy icing is the best. The chocolate is good too, but not quite as divine. They have been on Ellen Degeneres's top 10 cupcakes in the country, and they have a sign in the front to remind you of that. If you are a fan of the show, this is a MUST on your list of Dallas places (right behind the Zodiac Room @ the original Neiman Marcus downtown). Until next time, Adios!

About my Conquest

Hello sugar addicts!
I am here to help you with your search for THE treat for your event or daily picker-upper! I have been a cupcake enthusiast for years and even spent much of my summer trying cupcake places in NYC. The #1 there is my opinion is a toss-up between Sunshine and Billy's. No, Magnolia is not the nation's best in cupcakes, but their banana pudding is their trademark worth trying. That is another city and time.
I am a Dallas girl. Born, raised, and currently living. I love this city and its ever-changing cityscape. A skyline looks just that much better with a sweet accessory. Being picky in this area has lead to very happy guests. Get ready for reviews for places like TART, Society, Sprinkles, Celebrity, and many others!

Sincerely,
Your Cupcake Conqueress
